Ralph Slatton Printmaking
I was born in 1952, in a rural part of Arkansas, not far from Memphis, TN. Finding good employment at that time was always a challenge, so I decided to earn degrees in the fine arts. I now hold the BFA, MA and MFA degrees and was happy to obtain an excellent position with East Tennessee State University. I have been in charge of printmaking with the department of Art and Design, since 1990. I have also held the position of Department Chair from 1999 to 2004. I actively exhibit my artwork nationally and internationally and always seek innovative ways to teach art concepts to my students. My work is a motivating force toward this end. It allows me to keep current with the art community and allows me to satisfy a deeper understanding of issues that concern me.
