Karina Hean Contemporary Drawing

Artist Statement

_____________________________________________________________________________________

In brief, the diverse relationships we have with the natural world comprise my work’s content.  Nature is simultaneously cast as a divine, ineffable entity characterized by change and omnipotence to which we belong and as a measurable, predictable resource capable of passive utilization that we comprehend and control.  My work explores a numinous perception of nature through abstraction, scale, gesture, layering, and intricacy.
