My artwork relies heavily on comic book language to convey drama and speed. I seek to evoke this drama by employing bright, vibrating colors. The art is a key outlet for my spiritual struggle and worship. It is a turbulent swirl of spewed ideas, coagulating to reveal a fragment of my mind. Cartoon-language enables me to manipulate expressions and gestures to create comically grotesque forms.To produce my figures, I unapologetically refashion previous layers of work. This is based on my belief that artistic ability is a gracious divine gift. Drastically reworking paintings is therefore an act of trust. While my art is a highly spiritual, cathartic, and personal process, I believe the themes I confront are universally accessible. These themes may include corruption, confusion, and separation from God.
