Statement

My ideas come from a combination of intuition and assimilation. I am interested in artists like Cy Twombly, Gustav Klimt and Fred Stonehouse, though most of my influence can be found in my ordinary surroundings... sillhouettes and colors found in fabric, geometry in graphic design, the decadence of urban settings, and the natural decay and restoration of architecture and art.

 

My new work depicts a fictional place, a kind of skewed version of the world I am living in. A world occupied by humor, cynicism, adventure, fear, and silence. The images in my paintings are vague and candid, like that of a memory; each piece being congruent to the next, with an illegible story that connects them. Images of birds, rain, electrical wires, dirt, water, boats, serve as souvenirs from this world in an unfamiliar place.
