Bonnee Klein Gilligan Pastel

About the Art

Have you ever wondered what makes up a soul? How it looks as a visual expression? Or imagined what many of the beings look like that make up the invisible worlds that surround us? The Spiritual/metaphysical training Bonnee received opened her to a whole new world of sensations and impressions to which she began to give form through her passion of art. When she puts chalk to paper she seldom knows what the outcome will be. It is a bit like automatic writing or channeling… letting go and allowing impressions to flow from Soul to paper. She calls it automatic drawing, but it is really giving form, texture and color to energy patterns and perceptions.

Since 1992 she has utilized pastel to capture the essence of those beings that surround and guide us in our daily lives. Who give us subtle signals and say, ‘Do you really want to go there?’ or ‘Watch out, duck!!!’. Our Spiritual Teachers, Guides and Angels. In 2007 she was guided to also illustrate the individual garment (body/personality) with Soul experience and essence in line and color around the body. This is done 3 different ways with pastel on paper or pastel with computer enhancement or it may be drawn directly into the computer. Bonnee’s esoteric artwork includes pastel Spirit Guide drawings and Esoteric Portraiture as well as computer enhanced drawings and photographs.

About the Artist

Bonnee was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1954. Both of her parents were artistically inclined which provided an atmosphere ripe with creative potential. She began showing artistic self-expression early in life. Around age 8 she did a drawing of a toothpaste character that her father submitted to a regional contest. Her drawing won first place, she appeared on local TV and received a bicycle as a prize. She gave the bicycle to her best friend who didn't have one so they could ride together.

In high school Bonnee's favorite subject was Art. Her teacher was an inspiration to her encouraging her to try new things and stretch further. Every year students from area high schools participated in a regional handicapped awareness poster contest. Two of the 3 years in high school Bonnee's handicapped awareness poster won a prize and the local newspaper covered the story. All of this encouragement inspired Bonnee to further her art training. So in 1972 she enrolled in York Academy of Art (a 3 year program), majoring in Fine Art, Illustration and Graphic Design. She graduated in 1975 and for the next 14 years worked in the field of Advertising.

Through the encouragement of a friend, Bonnee started a daily 2 hour meditation practice in 1977. As well she began reading and absorbing all things of a Spiritual nature… starting with books on self-help subjects, then moving to personal empowerment, finally expanding to esoteric subjects like the works of Alice Bailey. During this time Bonnee attained all of the professional goals she set for herself… becoming an Art Director (1979/81), an Advertising Manager (1981/84), a business Owner (1982/88) and a Director of Advertising (1988/89).

In July 1989 she was guided to leave the advertising world and her professional career behind and begin her Spiritual journey full time. She moved to the island of Kauai, Hi where she spent the next 2 ½ years. In January 1992 she moved to Sedona, AZ where she stayed for 6 months. After doing a 28 day vision quest on the land she got inner direction to begin a traveling spiritual journey which lasted for 3 years. During this time many wonderful things transpired including Bonnee's work drawing Spirit Guides and teaching Usui Reiki Ryoho. She settled back in the Sedona, AZ area in 1995 where she still resides today. In 2007 her esoteric art expanded once again to also include 'Esoteric Portraiture', the Trefoil Series and other works.
